ALL NIGHTER SERVICE:

All Nighter is a network of owl bus lines in the San Francisco Bay Area which provides timed connections for late night and early morning travel (1:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m.). At one time five systems participated: AC Transit, County Connection (service discontinued), San Francisco Municipal Railway, SamTrans, and Wheels (service discontinued).

Muni has offered 24 hour service on a network of lines for decades. As of March 2011, seven bus (L, N, 5, 38, 90, 91, 108) and three trolley coach (14, 22, 24) routes offer modified service every 30-45 minutes to most parts of San Francisco and to Treasure Island. Timed transfers can be made at key locations.

AC Transit offers modified service on six routes (800 to San Francisco, 801, 802, 805, 840, and 851) with hourly headways. Cities from Richmond to Fremont receive bus service as do selected BART stations.

SamTrans gives hourly service on route 397 down the peninsula, including San Francisco International Airport, from downtown to Palo Alto.

Although not a participant in All Nighter, Santa Clara VTA offers 24 hour service on its route 22 from Palo Alto Caltrain to Eastridge Mall.
